Lagos Life Passes 1 Million Players in Three Days — Abuja & Port Harcourt Next
The browser game Lagos Life crossed one million players roughly three days after launching, with more than 109,000 players online at the same moment the milestone landed — numbers most studios would celebrate for a year, achieved by a free web game with no app store at all.
The timeline
- 1 October 2026 — Nigerian developer Shalom Rayhamen (Eliy) posts about the launch on X.
- 3 October — the game crosses 100,000 players, with over 11,000 online at once.
- 4 October — concurrent players pass 50,000; the game passes 1 million players, with 109,000+ online at the milestone. Abuja and Port Harcourt versions are announced.
- Today — the city keeps running: 13k-plus Lagosians online at peak, 32 million-plus visits, a player Governor elected every week.
Why it spread
No download, no store, no price tag — open a link in Safari or Chrome and you are a Lagosian. Add hyper-local texture (danfo fares, Saturday rent, LAPO loans, weekly elections) that travels perfectly in screenshots, and a shared city where every avatar is a real person, and the game became the thing Nigerian X, WhatsApp and Instagram groups kept sending each other.
What is next is already here: Abuja and Port Harcourt
What was "announced" at the million-player milestone has since shipped: Abuja Life and PH Life are playable inside the game now. Travel between the three cities is in — explore Wuse, Jabi and Maitama in the capital, or Port Harcourt's bole spots and waterfronts — and you can move home between cities outright. An iPhone app is next: same account, same save.
New here? Our starter guides cover the birth lottery, Saturday rent and the road to ₦1,000,000 — and the full location directory maps all 34 spots on the shared city.
