Run for Governor: How the Weekly Election Works
Lagos Life is not just a life sim — it is a city with a government, and the government is made of players. Every week the city elects a Governor, and what that government passes actually changes life in the city for everyone's week.
A Governor, elected weekly
Elections run on a weekly cycle at the Polling Unit. Real players campaign, real players vote, and the winner holds the office for the week. If you have seen players with "Gov" tags around the map — that is last week's result, walking around.
Laws that actually bite
This is the part that makes the election matter: the government passes rules that change how the week plays for everyone — the kind of thing you notice when the announcement banner at the top of the map changes. When players joke about a law ruining or saving their week, they are not joking.
How to get involved
- Vote. The lowest bar and the real power — show up at the Polling Unit in the weekly window.
- Campaign. A city of 13k-plus concurrent players is an audience; reputation from social life carries.
- Run. Nothing is stopping your Lagosian from being on the ballot but nerve.
Why it matters for your week
Even if you never touch politics, the election touches you: laws passed by player governments are part of the city's weekly rhythm, alongside NEPA's light schedule and Saturday rent. Following the election is genuinely useful intel.
